We were all so stuffed up between our head colds and seasonal allergies and we needed something to help. So after some poking around online I came across the idea of making little disks of baking soda and essential oils that would gradually dissolve in the shower and release a soothing vapor. I think there are some commercial products like this called Shower Soothers but I’m not quite sure who makes/made them.
Here is what you need:
- baking soda
- essential oils such as eucalyptus, lavender, lemon (I used a blend from DoTerra called Breathe)
- muffin tin
Mix enough baking soda and water to make a thick but smooth paste (maybe 2 cups of baking soda and 1/2 cup of water?). Add essential oils (I only used about 5-6 drops because the DoTerra oils are very powerful but you may need to add more depending on what brand of essential oils you use and your preferences). Pour mixture into muffin tins. Let sit overnight. Remove from tin when completely dry and store in an airtight container until needed. To use just put one on the shower floor and shower as usual. It should dissolve completely by the time you are done with your shower.
